Christin just won a US$250 Pioneer Award from LIVFund. She was selected as the winner in the “Helping Hand” category for her efforts as a volunteer Program Director with Manna Project International in Managua, Nicaragua.

A recent college graduate, Christin is spending 13 months abroad teaching English to the locals and lending a helping hand to residents of La Chureca – a municipal trash dump that is home to about 120 families.

“When I first heard about La Chureca this past summer”, says Christin,  ”I made the decision to dedicate 13 months of my life as a Program Director with Manna Project International to serve the people of La Chureca, along with two nearby communities, Cedro Galan and Chiquilistagua.”

Through Manna’s Child Sponsorship program, Christin and her fellow volunteers provide oatmeal, milk and vitamins to children living in La Chureca.
